I first got involved with West Brom Basketball Club through the community sessions, after I didn’t make the U14s team at trials. That knocked my confidence a bit, but I kept going to the sessions run by Coach Liam. Over time, those sessions really helped me build my skills—and just as importantly, my confidence.
The more I trained, the more I improved, and eventually I earned a place on the U14s team. I got to play in multiple league games, which boosted my self-belief even more and taught me how to work as part of a team and build chemistry with others on and off the court.
Next, I went for trials for the U16s National League team. I didn’t make it that time, but I was selected for the U15s YBL team. That alone showed how far I’d come in a year. I found myself always wanting to play—whether on my own or with the team.
Our U15s season turned out to be a huge success. We went undefeated and won the YBL Championship! A big part of that came down to Coach Jaden, who pushed us to work harder in training and helped us connect more as a team.
This year, I tried out again for the U16s National League—and this time, I made the squad. It feels amazing to see how much I’ve improved since I first joined the club. West Brom has helped me in so many ways—not just with basketball, but also with things like confidence and communication. I’ve grown both as a player and as a person, and I’m really excited about what’s ahead with the club.
