During my time at West Brom Basketball Club, I’ve had an amazing experience growing both as a player and a person. I started out as a beginner, but now I’m a confident player who’s constantly chasing new basketball opportunities. What makes the club special is that everyone—whether it’s your first session or you’ve been coming for years—is treated with fairness and respect.
West Brom Basketball Club is a fully inclusive club that welcomes players of all skill levels. There are loads of different programs designed to help you improve, not just individually, but also as part of a team. But what really stands out is how much the club cares about your success beyond just basketball. For example, coaches actively support players in other areas like media, photography, and coaching. I’ve even had the chance to do work experience here, which has given me a whole new perspective on what goes on behind the scenes.
Personally, I’ve gained so much from being part of the club. It’s become a big part of who I am. I love helping new players feel welcome and encouraging them to make the most of their time here—whether they want to be top athletes, media creatives, or even future coaches.
Being part of the club has helped shape my confidence in a big way. Before, I was a bit nervous talking to new people, but now I can connect with others more easily. During my work experience, I learned how to speak up clearly when coaching, and I also enjoyed helping out behind the scenes when needed.
Overall, West Brom Basketball Club has given me some unforgettable experiences. It hasn’t just helped me improve my game—it’s also helped me bounce back from injuries and rebuild my confidence. It keeps pulling me back to the sport I love.
What’s great is that the club also helps you develop life skills. It teaches you the importance of effort—not just in front of an audience, but also in your own quiet moments of training. I’ve especially grown in terms of communication. I used to struggle with social anxiety, but now I feel much more comfortable talking to new people, making mistakes, and learning from them.
Even though I haven’t been at West Brom Basketball Club the longest, I can confidently say that it has made me a better player and a better person—on and off the court. That’s thanks to the hardworking and supportive community that the coaches have built. I’m really grateful for everything I’ve learned, and I’m looking forward to more great times ahead.
