George Salter Academy under 16s have reached the final 8 in the Basketball England Schools competition following a nail-biting 75-74 win over Ellis Guildford school. This team tested the character of all players, losing our starting guard Devante Porteous-Gordon early in the third quarter after fouling out.
Late in the 4th quarter George Salter appeared to be in control going up by 8 points, however a discrepancy from the score meant it was only a one-point game. Again the boys stepped up and played through this barrier. The game was decided in the final two seconds with Brandon Masih knocking down a clutch free throw to seal the game.
The team now await their quarterfinal opponent, which they will host at home on Tuesday 25th April.
