Women and Girls Mid Season Review

Coach Sheridan on Women’s First Team (2W 0L)

“Building on last years success the team have had a strong start to the 23/24 season winning our first two games. This season we have made a focus on playing pressure defence resulting in a faster paced game on offence. We have an experienced veteran team who have really brought in to the style of basketball we are playing. The team also provides a good platform to support the development of the women and girls in our development team to play alongside more experienced players and a higher level of competition.”

Player/Coach Auguste on Development Team (6W 2L)

“The women’s second team made up of girls aged 12-18, as well as more experienced women, started the season by losing to Coventry Tornadoes. The team looked lost, kept missing defensive assignments and didn’t work well together. As the season went on, players got to know each other and coach Liam better and this could be seen on the court! The main two things always emphasised on the court are intensity on defence and moving the ball on offence, which the team keeps improving on every game. The women are very supportive and always try to guide the girls, some of whom only started playing basketball last year. Both coach and the players believe they are capable of winning all the games in the second half of the season and finishing top of the league!”
