23-24 Season is Upon Us!

This weekend our senior mens teams tip off their 23/24 campaign in their respective divisions in the West Midlands Basketball League.

Defending premier league winners hosted experienced and sharp shooting Worcester Bears. Looking to avenge last seasons only home loss to the Bears, West Brom came out hot to start the game and never looked back. Balanced and steady scoring from Sam Workman, Luke Hatfield and Ezran Little led the way for West Brom scoring 26, 26 and 13 respectively. Our Premier side travel to newly promoted Birmingham Rovers next Friday 29th where they hope to build on their strong start to the season.

Next up West Brom Division 1 hosted Stourbridge Hammers. New signing Brian Okoye started strong with a 3 point shot to open the game. A steady team effort let by an impressive 30 point outburst from Jules Lima saw Coach Preware’s side open the season with a win. Our Division 1 side travel to Team Wolverhampton SLAM next Friday 29th where they take on experienced Team Wolverhampton SLAM.

Monday night our Division 2 side made the short trip to Walsall College to take on Walsall Wizards. The game started with both teams trading baskets with West Brom taking a 2 point lead to end the first quarter. Walsall’s pressure defence caused problems throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarter. Entering the 4th quarter we trailed by 17. Despite the deficit the team rallied in the 4th quarter to cut the deficit to single digits but it was ultimately too little too late as we fell short losing by 8 points to open the season. The team look to bounce back this Sunday 24th as we host Shrewsbury Storm. COME AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT SUNDAY FROM 5:30PM AT WEST BROMWICH LEISURE CENTRE. LET’S GO WEST BROM!
