Busy Weekend Review

We started a busy weekend of basketball at lunchtime on Friday with a Staff v Sixth Form team fundraiser. The game featured all of our coaching staff as well as members of our under 17s team. Fortunately the staff team came away with a 2 point overtime win. Check out highlights here. Well done to Raheem and the team for organising the fundraiser.

Friday night saw our mens development team tip off their season against Walsall Warriors with Coach Cameron taking on a player/coach role for the first time. It was a close game throughout until a fourth quarter run saw our mens development start the season with an 81-66 victory.

Scorers: Raheem 35, Ziggy 16, Jaskirat 9, Alex 6, Daniel 4, Reon 4, Cornell 2, Louis 2, George 2, Shaun 1.

Next up our mens team were in action against Division 2 Northwood Valiants. Giving up a 68 point handicap to start the game and with just 7 players our mens team were up against it. Pressing for forty minutes we were able to claw back to within one point with one minute remaining in the game however the handicap and fatigue was too much for our men to overcome bowing out of the Rosebowl competition following a 117-113 loss.

Scorers: Luke 36, Ezran 27, Ziggy 16, Liam 15, Dave 10, Tyrone 5, Marek 4.

On Saturday our under 17s travelled to Coventry to take on the Tornadoes. In the first quarter both teams traded baskets, with Coventry taking a two point lead at the end of the quarter. The second quarter Coach Sheridan’s team upped their defensive effort resulting in a 28-2 quarter. With a 24 point half time lead the teams performance dipped in the second half but they were able to go on and win 51-70, remaining undefeated in the YBL North League.

Scorers: Raheem 26, Louis 10, Charlie 7, George 6, Reon 5, Bradley 4, Jaskirat 4, Shaun 4, Daniel 2, Joel 2.

Sunday saw Coach Cameron prepare his under 11s and under 13s for their games next weekend.
