Finishing fourth in the West Midlands Premier Division last season, it was a successful season for Tim Rudge’s senior side, so good that the team were stuck when voting for their season MVP award-winner.

Down to a player vote, the award was evenly split, meaning for the first time in the club’s history, the award was shared by 2017/18 MVP Luke Hatfield and first-year point guard Sam Rudge.

Meanwhile, Mudie Kapfumviti was named the Most Improved Player for the men’s senior team.

Liam Sheridan netted the Most Valuable Player award for the men’s B team, with Delon Sharpe named Coach’s Player. Ryan Greenhill was named the Most Improved Player for the division two side.

Hatfield was delighted to scoop one of the evening’s big honours alongside his teammate.

“It’s been a great season to be involved with West Brom Basketball Club – I couldn’t be happier to share this award with someone like Sam, who’s been incredibly important for us this year.” he said.

“This award is just a symbol of how well everyone on the team has done though. Everyone has had a big role to play for us this year.

“Hopefully we can push on next season and challenge for trophies.”
