West Midlands Minis Basketball 2017

Today Coach Sheridan made the trip to All Saints Sports Centre, Sheffield with the West Midlands under 11s boys basketball team to compete in the National Minis Basketball Tournament.

The West Midlands were placed in pool 1 along with the South East and the North East. The boys made a great start to the day with a 17 point victory (49-32) over the South East. In the second and final pool game the West Midlands took on the North East with the winner having the opportunity to play for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in the afternoon. Despite their best efforts the boys fell just short losing by 2 points (36-38).

Finishing second in their pool, the boys were placed in the runners up pool for the afternoon along with London and the South. Up first the boys took on a very physical London team. Despite leading throughout the game a big 4th quarter push from London was too much for the boys to overcome resulting in a 4 point loss (33-37). Determined to finish the day with a win the boys turned their attention to the South. Despite a slow start to the game the boys stepped up their defensive intensity, resulting in easy scores and were able to take an 11 point win (36-47), finishing the day on a high!

All of the players were a credit to their coaches and clubs as well as our region. Coach Sheridan would like to thank all the staff from the YBL and Ball 4 All (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) for their help and support during the preparation and todays tournament.
