In another busy weekend at the club our under 13s, 14s, 16s, 18s and Mens Division 2 side were in action.
Up first the under 13s were on the road in Shrewsbury. Coach Lofters side returned with a dominant 106-15 victory. Moving to 3-0 in the YBL, the team look to maintain their discipline and continue their strong start to the season.
Up next on Saturday our under 14s travelled to Worcester Wolves. An impressive team performance and unselfish team offence saw the team return with a 89-38 win. Coach Camerons side look to make improvements defensively as they continue their strong start to the season.
In the final away trip of the day the under 16s travelled to take on well established Northampton. “Tough away match against a strong team. The team dug deep and they whilst they played well they struggled to convert plays into points, the scoreline isn’t a reflection of the teams effort.” Paul Weston, Team Manager. Coach Maziko and his under 16s try to bounce back from tough recent results next weekend as they host Tamworth Tigers.
In the final game of the day on Saturday our under 18s hosted Birmingham Bears in an unofficial game due to licensing issues. Coach Preware’s team were able to defend their homecourt with a hard-fought, scrappy overtime win 58-52. “We dug deep and came through in OT with a solid captains performance by Jaivir and an invaluable contribution from Malachi in his debut for the club.”
In the only game of the day on Sunday our Division 2 mens side improved their record to 2-2 in the West Midlands Basketball League 2 with an impressive win against Bromsgrove Bears.
All of our teams will be working hard this week as they prepare for next weeks games.
